EDITORS’ NOTES

“It’s a reflection on learning how to love,” Juanes tells Apple Music of his new single “Querer Mejor.” The Colombian singer-songwriter first met Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara when they performed “1-800-273-8255” with Logic at the Latin Grammys in 2017, and they reunite here for a tribute to enduring love, with his smooth, hovering guitars gliding alongside her playful vocals. The dembow-driven ballad was directly inspired by vallenato, a traditional form of folk music that is popular in Juanes’ native country. It’s a pairing that crosses both generations and borders, as Cara makes her Spanish singing debut with the pop-rock veteran. “I’ve always been very impressed with how she sings, and I love her energy and how she sees the world. She’s extremely talented.”
