Vidar AOR ,

Great old-school Black Metal

Definately a must-buy and for about 6 bucks, you can't go wrong
The main standouts that make this album so great are:
- Demonaz plays in true black metal fashion, very different from Abbath's thrash-like playing on later releases
- Abbath has a great rasp, and sounds far eviler than his current frog croak
- All of the tracks are unrelenting and brutal, just as black metal is supposed to be

Doom Occulta ,

Their best

This is Immortal's second album and in my opinion their best album. This album just barely beats out Sons Of Northern Darkness for my favorite Immortal album but it does. I think the reason is that the atmosphere on this album is a little bit better than on SOND. The bad production makes this album for Immortal because it gives off that great atmosphere. Dont get me wrong i like Black Metal albums with good production like Dusk And Her Embrace, Storm Of The Light's Bane, Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk, etc but bad production to me is a very important factor in Black Metal, especially the early albums. Black Metal today never has bad production anymore, thats just how it works. But back in the early 90's when these bands had no money, bad production was a core factor for making an evil Black Metal album. I reccomend this album to all experienced Black Metal fans. If your new to BM get the albums i mentioned with the good production and then give this a go.
