OsamaSon’s 2025 would have been considered a success if he’d decided to take the rest of the year off after dropping Jump Out in January. The Ohio-born rapper, however, was seemingly unsatisfied despite the commercial and critical adoration, following it up in October with another album—an evil twin of sorts, psykotic. The synths are still effervescent, but the bass is more distorted and OsamaSon punches at his beats like a boxer knowing his opponent is running out of gas. Despite the more aggressive energy, OsamaSon still offers up plenty of quotably hysterical one-liners, an underrated aspect of his artistry. On “Addicted,” which melts with blurred, otherworldly synth squeals, he raps: “I just fucked my finger up, counting too much paper up.” psykotic sounds like it was recorded, smashed to pieces, and then reassembled from memory, a fractured reimagining of the post-Playboi Carti rap landscape. Few are moving it in as many different directions as OsamaSon.
