It's no Bliss & Death

Love National Skyline, Bliss & Death knocked it out of the park for me. This effort is just so-so. Pretty simplistic lyrics and over all borders on boring.

Doesn't grab me like previous efforts.

Incredible album!

This is a great album. Not a bad song on the whole thing. I don't know why people are comparing it to Bliss & Death. Primitive Parade is much better than the Broadcasting LP and Bursts. While those albums have some good songs, they're all pretty short. But Primitive Parade seems like a return to the old National Skyline, but slightly updated. I'm glad National Skyline is still releasing material. They are one of my favorite bands and each album is journey in its own way.

okay, but not great.

I absolutely love National Skyline. Bliss and Death was beyond amazing. Top 10 favorite album for me. This album, after SEVERAL listens, is a bit mediocre. Lots of mediocrity, not much creativity and depth in my opinion. Of course, different strokes for different folks.

This album takes a dive into a mixture of genres, dreamy rock with synthy pop(ish)-rock. I really like bands who do the electronic sounds, but it doesn't work for National Skyline. There are a couple of good standout tracks, but that's about it. The synths are a bit dull honestly.

Dream Like Me is a great jam, but wow, the Washed Out "Eyes be Closed" influence is a bit overwhelming. (N Skyline said Washed Out was an influence, so I'm not just making it up.)

All in all, there's a couple or few above average songs, but other than that it's a lot of mediocrity. This one won't be in rotation very much on my ipod. Bliss and Death will be, and still is.
