“We made this mix with that ‘tipping-point’ moment in mind,” Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears tells Apple Music about the mix the trio has compiled in celebration of Pride Month. “When the niceties of the party have suddenly turned into chaos.” The group broke through in the early 2000s, bringing fun, campy, openly queer music to charts and clubs around the world. After more than a decade away, they began touring again in 2025, and have since been working on their first new music in 14 years. In the meantime, though, their tracks have continued to be adored, danced to, remixed, and covered, with a recent favorite featured here on their mix. “It was so fun to stick a brand-new version of ‘Let’s Have a Kiki’ on here with vocals by Trixie Mattel,” Shears says, referencing the 2026 cover of their 2012 song by VNSSA, Lushious Massacr, and Mattel. “It felt great to have a fresh version for a fresh Pride!”
