Quite simply....

When listening to "Pretty Tricks," you get a confusingly beautiful combination of something familar, like songs you've heard a million times before, and something completely unique. There is a retro sort of feel to the songs, yet they also sound fresh and modern. Sunny and upbeat, yet haunting and meloncholy at the same time. Overall, an extremely enjoyable listening experience no matter what mood you are in. Songs you can listen to over and over. Standouts include "Brand New Truth," "Cocoon," and "Aurora's Dusk." Quite simply, when listening to this album, "it drugs me." Outstanding :)

Coming from a teen

This is not a song for kids or teens, Coming from one, nothing is inappropriate, it just isn't what teens or younger want.the lyrics where good though!

Painting With Sound

If a painter's job was to capture the emotional essence of the human condition through the beautiful contrasts of a landscape painting, and that very landscape was a reflection of the soul, then SanguinDrake are indeed weavers of emotional landscapes. With songs like the hypnotic dance noir of "Currency", the Mazzy Star-esque seduction of "Brand New Truth" and the ebb and flow majesty of "Magdelin", Pretty Tricks is a warmly engaging tapestry of color and light. A calm before a celestial storm of shooting stars, and lost sunsets before the grace of a shadowed moon. David Drake and Sarah Carter are indeed magicians. For Pretty Tricks is no mere trick at all, but surely pure magic before a palette of artistry with much more to come. I can't wait for the next album. SanguinDrake is the real deal!
