Editors’ Notes William Shatner knows how to deliver a line—and musicians from all genres have had a blast collaborating with him. He's sometimes camp, sometimes enlightened, sometimes silly, and sometimes serious. Cleopatra Records kingpin Billy Sherwood, best known to the mainstream world as a member of ‘90s Yes, invited his prog-rock friends to join him in making this latest Shatner album, where the mysteries of life, science, and its fiction are given a very different soundtrack than on previous Shatner albums. Jazz guitarist Al Di Meola, Yes’ Rick Wakeman, Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band’s Zoot Horn Rollo, The Doors’ Robby Krieger, Hawkwind’s Nik Turner, Steve Vai, and Edgar Winter are among those to join Sherwood in creating new age and prog sounds behind Shatner’s authoritative delivery. Even country singer Vince Gill joins in on the fun with “Imagine Things.” This album is more for progressive rock fans and folks who weren’t excited by Shatner’s previous "pop" moves.
