Great value for price

I'm usually pretty skeptical of the quality of albums that mass-package composers' music—don't get me started on that ridiculous Rise of the Masters series. But I was pleasantly surprised by this album. The sound quality is very high, and the interpretations, if somewhat textbook, at least have a full-bodied sound that is both vibrant and three-dimensional.

The only specific flaw I've noted so far is that there is some excessive reverb in the lieder, but it is not always obvious. (It's worst in "Ungeduld," I'd say.)

All in all, recommended if you're looking for a solid recording to build your classical music library on a budget.
