Detroit singer/songwriter Mike Posner's debut album apparently hinges on a 'higher' moment exactly 31 minutes into proceedings, but the real focal point, of course, is clackingly catchy number one "Cooler Than Me." Distilling an affection for syncopated synths and bothersome relationships, Posner strikes gold mining subtle EDM ("Cheated") and heavy electro ("Baby Please Don't Go"). But he’s not entirely down-on-his-luck with the ladies: the purring electro groove of "Bow Chicka Wow" sees him in rare form and “Déjà Vu”’s ‘90s R&B slinkiness is so romantic Boyz II Men back him up.
