Tired of sleepy dopey vocalists but the music is good

Love the music scores and the songs but I am so done, done! with sleepy dopey doey eyed vocalists that border on whispering and contemplation. Sing the stuff and put some umpf into it instead of boring us toward never listening again. Tycho has had some great music in the past year or two and this is not a deal breaker however it is also not my vocalist tastes.

Slippin': first less-than-stellar review for Tycho

Long-time Tycho fan since Past is Prologue (gave previous albums 5 stars, seen 4 live shows) -- I'll update this review when the full LP drops, but so far I hear an irritating dissonance between the vocals and instrumentals. Despite a skilled attempt, the vox/lyrics on "Pink & Blue" have less dynamic cohesion than Epoch, and the instrumental version of this single is better. Navel-gazing, common rhymes coupling "diet" and "quiet" were corny and derailed the song. Tycho's sound envelopes when it conjures an effervescent sense of movement, time, mystery, and existential chiaroscuro; in the new "lead singer" format, too many lyrics kill the vibe. I also think Tycho's *at least* 2 songs and 10 minutes short of a true album-length LP here. If it weren't for Rory the drummer, it would receive 2 stars.
