12 Songs, 46 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Few white women knew the blues as well as Joplin, and this collection showcases her most iconic moments. Her soul shines through the rib-rattling wail of “Piece of My Heart,” while “Me and Bobby McGee” marries her aching voice to classic country storytelling. A live take of “Down On Me” illustrates her command of the stage while fronting the blues rock powerhouse Big Brother & The Holding Company.

HAHA

I remember my grandpa telling me that when he used to own a bar called the Black Cat in Port Arthur Texas (Where Janis was from) she came in when she was 17 and he kicked her out because she was underaged and she was high. I love to think of my old grandpa forcing her out! that must have been a scene!

Who doesn't love Janis?!

I grew up listening to my mother's old Joplin records and these are great recordings! No regrets about buying this album.

Greatest Hits indeed

I listen to these and other of her songs at least zillion times and I never get bored, which tells me that these songs are really something special.
