Great Album

When I saw that there was an album of piano renditions of some of Vai's music, I instantly decided to check them out. I am a huge Vai fan, and to me these added a whole other side to his music. I'm not normally into music like this, but I've got to recommend it to any Vai fans looking for something new, or just for anyone who wants to hear a good piano album in the first place. To sum this up, I'm lovin' it.

Steve Vai music on piano.

I highly recommend this to any fan of Steve Vai or any fan of solo piano music. I have long argued that Vai is an actual composer rather than just a guitar wanker, and this CD proves it. Vai's beautiful melodies and idiosyncratic harmonies really shine. Keneally proves his amazing skill as both an arranger and pianist, which kind of surprises me because I always thought of him as more of a guitarist. The song selection here is surprising, not what I would have chosen. But it works very well. Highlights are "All About Eve", "Bledsoe Bluvd", "Sisters", and a totally amazing performance of "Junkie". Screw it, all of the tracks here are good. I consider this a classical album, not jazz.
