Odd as it may seem, Mimi is a rarity among OSTs for Hindi films centred on women—most of its songs actually feature female singers. Shreya Ghoshal’s tapori dance cut “Param Sundari” proves again that the maestro can enliven any template. The electro-folk vibe of Shilpa Rao’s “Phuljhadiyon” sounds like a throwback to “Patakha Guddi” from 2014’s Highway soundtrack, and “Rihaayi De” is the kind of soulful synth ballad familiar to Rahman fans. Meanwhile, there’s a zestfulness in the music that prevents the listener from ever feeling jaded.
