A Masterpiece

First, I’m filled with regret for never listened to this album until now, having missed it for about 40 years. I think of how I could have just been lost in the beautiful harmonies and top-notch production of Jeff Lynne. Oh well. I’m just glad that I have found it and I am enjoying it immensely. This album has the two pop mainstays of “Sweet Talkin’ Woman” and “Turn to Stone”. However, two other standout tracks, “It’s Over” and “Starlight” have me going off into a dreamy bliss of ‘70s pop. This is a GREAT album. All of the tracks are excellent. Not to be missed. Even 40 years or so later.

Out of the Blue...It never gets old

As a child of the 1970s I grew up on this album. Back then it was a double-album record. Boy did i wear it out. Most bands continue to mature, with each album getting better in succession. For ELO, Out of the Blue was when they peaked! With each album, Jeff Lynne continued to blend smooth harmonies with classical orchestration and some electric guitar thrown in. This record was the perfect blend of those elements. Its best listened to from start to finish. For fans of the band, there really aren't any bad songs on this.
