A very good listen

I've noticed that many bands today get a lot of heckling for emulating the sound of other bands. For example: Baroness sounding like Mastodon, Norther sounding like Children of Bodom, and, in this case, Barren Earth sounding like Opeth. Notwithstanding, all the aforemetioned bands are excellent. Barren Earth well included. Despite much criticism over the heavier vocals for sounding like Åkerfeldt's, I don't think it takes anything away from the fact that this band is writing some truly great songs. The fact that someone would compare Barren Earth's vocalist to Åkerfeldt is a compliment to the tenth degree! I love what this band brings to the table. It's lush progressive sound and throaty/haunting vocals are what really hooked me. Hopefully this band gets the attention it deserves - I'd love to see them live. If I were to recommend one song in particular, it would be Floodred. These guys are awesome!

A fantastic EP from a band that I hope goes places. The vocals are reminiscent of Amon Amarth, while the guitar is in a realm of its own, and the drumming is solid.
