EDITORS’ NOTES

The debut LP from this Brazilian crew is a pitch-perfect blend of experimental pop, orchestral flourishes, psychedelic fuzz-rock, and Tropicália—the distinctive sound of their home country pioneered by the likes of Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, the latter of whom performs on the album. The sum of the parts adds up to something much greater, however, and all the musical inventiveness combines into a trippy, transportive work that rivals any classic recordings from the era of High Psychedelia.
