Price Redux?

George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars put on one of the best stage shows of any act around. WARNING: they may outlast you, as their stage shows have been known to go on for more than 3 hours … sometimes much longer.
I am only writing about some weird iTunes pricing, however. Click on the artist name & you will be shown iTunes' full selection of downloads for these guys. This identical set (as of 4/8/15) is also available for $4.99. They also have double live sets with these same selections and more for $9.99 or, if you like paying extra, $19.99.
If you want to check out studio albums, I recommend 'Mothership Connection' by Parliament, 'Maggot Brain' by Funkadelic, and 'Dope Dogs' by George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars. They contain a lot of the songs on these live albums and are great introductions to the groups. Of course, they have many other fantastic albums.
Parliament uses a horn section extensively, Funkadelic is more guitar oriented, and the All Stars bring it all together.

Go for the studio album

In all honesty I feel like this album honors and upholds The Funk in the live sense, however, it does feel significantly less dirty than George's studio material. I think this has to do with diminished bass levels. If your are a true P-funk fan, buy this album, think about and maybe say something more constructive than I did, but if this is your first venture into the genere you would be better off picking up a studio recording... or going to see George live.
