9 Songs, 42 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

One of These Nights is to Hotel California what Fleetwood Mac is to Rumours: the breakthrough album that sets the scene for the game-changing follow-up. Featuring a sleek, pop-rock vibe that downplays the folk and country elements of the Eagles' earlier albums, this LP’s hit singles helped define the mid-'70s California sound. Beyond the sultry title track, the melancholic ache of "Lyin' Eyes," and the soulful balladry of "Take It to the Limit," the album also features the gloriously spacey instrumental "Journey of the Sorcerer."

Songs that stand the test of time

This was one of the first records I bought with my own money. This was a work where the production quality, the musicianship, and songwriting art came together and made something that stands up to anything done since 1975.
