The fifth album by Courtney Marie Andrews finds her contemplating the barriers that divide us. Often that’s distance: “I’ll travel this land like a canvas until I’m run out of paint,” she sings on the anticipatory “Woman of Many Colours”, and she hasn’t “been home in four years,” she admits on the Nashville-indebted “This Time”. But sometimes divides are psychic: “Locked in for weeks, your friends become your fiction” she observes over the grave piano of “It Keeps Going”.
