Christmas, Dr. Dog style

If you're familiar with Dr. Dog then you'll know what to expect here, musically. This little EP is raucous and a little rough around the edges and stuffed with the simple joy of Christmastime. All four tunes are a pleasure and are stuck on repeat on my iPod.

What's Best...

What's best about this EP, despite some lagging or dragged on melodic phrases, is the return to a sound that made past albums like "Fate" or "Shame, Shame" and many more before so unique. I am not saying that I haven't liked the Dog's past two efforts, but their 1970s novelty-esque sound is what made me favor them a great deal more over many of their independent contemporaries. This outfit continues to make great sounding music, pleasant to the ears, filling up the simple patterned yet complexly arranged music with vivid harmonies. I cannot wait for their next release, hoping that this album foreshadows a return to their early material. One thing I am sure is that Dr. Dog will not disappoint in the originality and staying true to their independent nature departments.
