The Sound of 2018

If you can imagine what it would sound like if Sonata Artica and Nightwish did a collaboration then you’re probably imagining something not far off from this symphonic metal band. “Broken Promises,” “Of Jupiter & Moons,” and “The Last Hope in a World of Hopes,” are all knockout tracks, I myself having bought the album after having only heard the first two alone, having listened to them nonstop on Scarlet Records’ YouTube do hours. That said, with the exception of, “We are Free,” I find the remainder of the album is rather bland and unfortunately runs together. It is clear from the variation in these tracks they are trying, but nonetheless come up lacking. Yet, as a proof of concept new singers Alessia Scolletti and Michele Guaitoli have proven themselves, and I hope to see an album full of knockouts in the future.

Three stars for a lackluster, neither good nor bad, with one star added for its five star tracks.
