High Energy Hilarity

Joe Sib is a born storyteller. He has an infectious, high-voltage enthusiasm in this comedy album that no doubt was honed by years of being the frontman in a number of punk and power pop bands. He brings the same focus and intensity you'd get in a perfect pop song to these hilarious routines. The comedy is derived from his experiences of being a husband and now a father. His bits on his son and his teenage daughter are hysterical. He turns real experiences like being the house with the trampoline into seeringly accurate, breathtakingly funny observations. Sometimes his comedy relies on more long form set ups, but then he comes back with a couple of brilliant buttons to the whole story. Some of the best of these funny moments are when he draws comparisons to how he was raised, with his mom chainsmoking while he gorged on McDonald's, and how he is raising his own non-GMO vegetarian kids. The brilliance of this comedian comes from being able to find that sweet spot between comedy and tragedy, mining real situations that could have resulted in exasperation or a trip to the shrink's, but instead he spins them around into something hilarious.

He's a genuine dude

I heard Joe on the CrabFeast podcast so I checked out his album. His bits about being a father cut straight to the truth, especially the bit "Drive Like Your Kids Live Here."

Loved it!

Joe is every bit as good a comic as he is a songwriter. I'm snobby as hell when it comes to stand-up and this is top notch stand-up.
