Celebrated film and television composer Henrik Lindstrand completes his trilogy of intimate piano albums with a touching homage to his Swedish homeland. Memories of a happy childhood, whether picking raspberries (“Hallonlandet”) or venturing into the countryside (“Stora Huset”), are mixed with nods to his love of literature (“Blå Berget”) and French Impressionist music (“Portal-Neu”). Throughout, Lindstrand manipulates his piano to produce a breathtaking array of sounds that he digitally weaves together to create richly textured layers. From the metallic, pulsating “Jum-Jum” to the shimmering “Stjärnvägar: II” and the mechanical thrum of “Loranga,” he proves himself a brilliant sonic artist with an ear for exquisite harmonies and evocative atmospheres. “Rest” serves as a beautiful coda that leads back to the opening track, as if guiding us on a circular path.
