Iron Maiden is one of the few bands on the planet that can release their 13th live album in 35 years to even more clamoring fans than when they released their first. When the COVID-19 pandemic cut the iconic metal band’s Legacy of the Beast greatest-hits tour short, bassist Steve Harris and co-producer Tony Newton assembled a colossal 17-track live set from Maiden’s three Mexico City dates in September 2019. Nights of the Dead follows in the grand tradition of Maiden live albums like Live After Death and Maiden England, with rousing versions of classics like “Aces High,” “The Number of the Beast,” and “Run to the Hills.” The set also features 2006’s “For the Greater Good of God,” which has never been included on a Maiden live album before, and the ’80s anthem “Flight of Icarus,” which they hadn’t played live since 1986.
