10 Songs, 48 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

This ambitious album has a lot going on, including a cameo by actor Mickey Rourke and the surprise addition of Peter Frampton on lead guitar. The pumped-up, club-friendly drums mark this as an ‘80s production, but Bowie was also writing offbeat songs like "Glass Spider," a mini-epic with spoken narration and a Tolkien-esque fantasy storyline. Bowie is touching on the title song, where he sounds remarkably like his late friend John Lennon. Another old friend, Iggy Pop, gets covered on the rowdy "Bang Bang."
