14 Songs, 44 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Reuniting with producer Brian Eno, Coldplay doubled down on the filigreed sound that had characterized Viva La Vida, setting Mylo's widescreen sci-fi story about love and graffiti against a backdrop of shimmering guitars, kaleidoscopic synths, and soaring choruses. Even sparingly arranged songs like the acoustic guitar–driven "Us Against the World" pulse with the drama of piano chords and gauzy atmospherics. And when the band cut loose on anthems like "Paradise" and "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall," they sound intent on provoking nothing less than rapturous delight.

2nd best of pop

This album is pure genius. I got this album on vinyl for Xmas, and I love it! Every song tells a story even if it is instrumental. The lyrics of every song ( which include a relationship with a want-a-be princess, love in war,and freedom of a little girl) creates something very few artists can do. Create stories while mixing a lot of genres to make a work of art. Although, in my opinion, The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the best album of all time, this album does something Sgt. Pepper couldn't do. Mix a lot of genres. Sgt. Pepper just has one genre per song. Therefore, this is the second best pop album of all time. If you have not bought this album on vinyl or cd, it is now time to change your life.

A Waterfall of Sound

Pop is what you might call a diverse genre, it carries so many different artists, styles and backgrounds, that the only word that can possibly describe it all is "catchy". Finding a true classic album in this field can be somewhat of a challenge, but despite the odds, Coldplay brings that search to a close with Mylo Xyloto.

Filled with heartfelt pianos, soaring vocals, and inspiring themes, Mylo Xyloto takes Coldplay's signature emotional sound and brings it to a new level. One that involves waterfalls, birds, princesses, and effectively shows us all that Coldplay is the best pop band in the world. Hands down.

Real Music!

Amazing. This album features great vocals and phenomenal music. Coldplay, unlike so many pop bands today, uses real instruments and simple, expressive lyrics to take you to Paradise...
