EDITORS’ NOTES

Since the late ’90s, Mexico City’s Molotov have mixed hip-hop, hard rock, and tongue-in-cheek funk. So for their MTV Unplugged set, you can be sure it’s not a politely intimate affair. Laying down heavy grooves and kicking wild rhymes, they lead the hyped-up crowd in a riotous singalong on “Gimme Tha Power,” bring a jump-out-of-your-seats intensity to “Parásito,” and still keep the energy crackling with the keyboard-heavy strut of “Voto Latino.” Even without plugging their guitars into a wall of amps, they still manage to deliver an electric live album.
