Mozart: Serenade No. 10 in B-Flat Major, K. 361 "Gran Partita"
Mozart adored writing for woodwind instruments—his Clarinet Concerto, completed towards the end of his life, is one of the instrument’s finest works. But a decade or so before, the composer conceived the “Gran Partita,” an extraordinary, richly scored multi-movement work for 13 woodwinds, from oboe to bassoon, with one of classical music’s most heart-melting slow movements at its center. This performance by members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is thrillingly performed and recorded in sumptuous sound.
