Dead On!

Black Tie Dynasty have managed to take over my stereo in one short week. If you want solid songs without the overly trendy name that influence sound....these guys just might be your ticket. Unlike some of the current wave of retro acts (Think Killers) Black Tie Dynasty seem to make music that sounds less like a novelty and more like a refreshing new look ahead at what music could sound like if mass media would only allow for more than the corporate top 40 to grave their sound and video waves! Like a retro sound but don't want to feel cheated? Spend a few bucks here...and enjoy.

SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED CASH!

An oasis in the new music scene. A polished, fresh, modern sound that brings you that good 80's vibe. You can compare them to several new and old bands...but the sound is still distinctly theirs. Saw them live last week and they stood up well. Hope these guys break big...they deserve it.

What The Killers Couldn't Accomplish

When Brandon Flowers of The Killers belts out "He doesn't look a thing like Jesus" it comes across as phony as a Las Vegas casino. Perhaps he should have taken singing lessons from frontman, Cory Watson of Black Tie Dynasty. Now this guy can croon out a tune in pure bono-esque fashion, melodramatic without making the audience cringe with embarrassment. Like Bloc Party, you can rank Black Tie Dynasty up there with the early 21st century bands that have reinvented the 80s sound into a new breed of synth-monster. One that captures the underlying anxiety of our decade (like how Depeche Mode and Jesus & The Mary Chain underlined cold war paranoia during the 80s) while creating a sound that is unique and relevant for Bush America. Stand-outs include; "I Like U," "Once Around," & "Trick Photography." For those trying to keep up with the new sound, skip the overbloated "Sam's Town." "Movements" is the real deal. This is easily one of the year's best albums.
