Editors’ Notes On Mourn, Corbin Smidzik embraces a world-weary R&B sound reminiscent of James Blake and The Weeknd, toggling between making music meant to wash over you and music meant to get you moving. "Giving Up" finds him gliding over a finger-snapping beat that eventually morphs into a booming clap, while on opener "ICE BOY," he rides a funky, confident new jack swing rhythm coated in chilly keyboard flourishes, which he uses as a space to sing about lost love until he sounds out of breath.
