Moon Trip Radio

Moon Trip Radio

Maybe he hasn’t yet reached household name status (or usurped recipes for his namesake appetizer in search results), but New Jersey producer Clams Casino has been behind the scenes of some of the most vital hip-hop of the 2010s; his woozy, sample-heavy beats defined the cloud-rap scene that birthed A$AP Rocky and Lil B and gave depth to early Mac Miller and The Weeknd cuts. On Moon Trip Radio, his second official album, the producer’s still trading in the gently tripped-out textures he pioneered, but with a newfound sense of elegance (and zero features): “Fire Blue” is ambient trip-hop at its most arresting, and “Lyre” blends chopped strings and wildlife recordings into pure Zen. For all he’s been imitated, there’s still no one that sounds quite like Clams.
