Beautiful

Listening through the song previews on Amazon and I can say without a doubt I’m going to really love this Album. I think Puscifer really found their niche with Conditions and I can’t wait to hear their full work on Moneyshot. The harmonizations, deep dark chord progressions, amazing time signatures and brilliant drumming are unlike anything else I’ve heard before.

I hate to be the naysayer here...

I love this band, and they have had a very meaningful impact on my life and being. But I have to be honest with myself. This is not my favorite record of theirs. I love that Maynard is leveraging Corina more. She’s hugely talented and an incredible asset. But the whole thing feels and sounds a little flat and one dimensional to me. There isn’t a lot of “whoa, that came out of no where” stuff. It really feels like every song bleeds to the next. Some of the hooks perk your ears up, but if you aren’t listening to Maynard, you’re probably just not listening. The album is happening near you, not moving through you. Like it was one giant Pro Tools session with no changing of effects, no new atmospheres, no new interest. I can’t wait to see them live… but I’m hoping they present it more like they present Conditions than as it exists on Money Shot. Worth owning, worth enjoying, and there are some exceptional tracks… but it’s not a top-to-bottom great records. It’s some singles, some fluff, and a lot of desert atmosphere. Sorry Maynard, it’s just how I feel. :(

Tumultuous Hamburger

This album is like frying eggs between your ears and getting French toast for free because magic.
