Mismo Sitio, Distinto Lugar
Vetusta Morla dive fearlessly into the deep end of digital-era psychedelia with Mismo Sitio, Distinto Lugar. They haven't abandoned their beloved indie anthems, each still anchored by soaring Britpop-style choruses. But there are now also woozy experiments drenched in electronics, along with unstable jams that plunder rock history for riffs and rhythms. The quintet explores lilting evocations of acid-soaked folk ("Deséame Suerte"), fitful post-punk grooves strafed by synth-pop bleeps ("Te lo Digo a Ti"), and ballads that somehow wring emotion from unearthly ambient noise ("23 de Junio").
