Minutes to Midnight is the result of more than a year of studio time, dozens of songs put to tape, and an intense amount of expectation from an audience who had to wait four years. Frontman Chester Bennington went on record about the album, saying that the band ditched the nu-metal sound that was plastered all over its first two releases. In its place is a more direct punk and hip-hop influence with a touch of classic rock.
