Editors’ Notes In an era when many country artists are modernizing their sounds, this Texan trio turn their inspirations from the ’70s and ’80s into a warm, organic feel. On this debut EP, Mark Wystrach’s oaky baritone conjures the voices of Keith Whitley and John Anderson on the slow-burning, double-vision anthem “Drinkin’ Problem” and the bittersweet “Burn Out,” while the country rock touches of “This Old Heart” testify to The Eagles’ influence. Wherever they roam, Midland take along plenty of Texas twang.
