Less edgy but more darkly introspective than their early work, Pretty turns the band’s outward aggression in, spinning bleak stories about domestic violence (“Punchin’ Bag”) and missing people (“Sweetie Little Jean”) through the frayed, frail, and ferocious vocals of Matt Shultz.
