"Switch On Your Radio" opens with spacey ambience before spilling out buoyant, effects-laden '80s funk; Ben E. King's "Stand By Me" becomes a breezy, bass-slapping banger; and "Believe In Magic" sports enough brass and pinwheeling guitar solos to fill an arena. Even slow-burning ballads like the smooth, finger-snapping demo "Adventures of the Heart" transcend their time by refusing to conform to the soul-pop mold.
