After reconnecting with “Ghosts ’n’ Stuff” vocalist Rob Swire on Level 1–the first in a three-part series of EPs–deadmau5 taps Canadian singer Lights to kick off Level 2. Their dark and catchy-as-hell pop collaboration, “Drama Free,” gets a perfectly funky remix from Chris Lorenzo, who speeds up the original to add a dose of nervous energy (the menacing instrumental version is a must-listen too). “Gg,” a long and winding trance instrumental that feels pulled from a film score, also gets two wildly different interpretations—a ferocious techno remix from Bulgarian DJ/producer Gallya and a smooth dance-floor treatment from LA’s Monstergetdown.
