32 Songs, 3 Hours 3 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Long considered one of the greatest metal albums of all time, Metallica’s 1986 opus was also their last with bassist Cliff Burton, who was killed just a few months after its release. This behemoth collection includes newly remastered versions of classic album cuts like the throttling “Battery,” the excoriating anti-war anthem “Disposable Heroes,” and the killer space-prog instrumental “Orion.” But it's the more than 100 additional live tracks, demos, and “work in progress” recordings—including raw early versions of Master of Puppets songs from guitarist James Hetfield’s personal riff tapes—that really put this one over the edge.

CLEAR!

Mind you, most of these "re-issues" are just a money grab. Whenever I listen to modern remixes, they are usually just louder or more bassy. THIS, on the other hand...at least the sample of DH I heard, has gotten my attention. I love the live and demo tracks but, if they cleaned up the rest of the original tracks like what I've heard so far, I'm in.

Awesome!

One of their best albums remastered with demos. I love the demos as it’s interesting to hear a song in its infancy before finalized. The work on the original LP is incredible. If you don’t have this one- it’s a must buy. If you have the CD- if you want the bonus stuff it’s worth the coin especially if you want the clearer sounding album.

Just hearing Cliffs raw bass skills in the demos is refreshing and to know such an amazing talent Cliff was. And now the new Metallica generations will get to live on through his legacy.
