This Love of Mine

Upon listening to this album my first thought is that I’d like to see Jim Murray in concert. It would be terrific to listen to all the songs on this album performed live in public. From the lead song, “Big Love,” the listener is immediately struck by the warm sonorous tones of this wide range tenor, who uniquely conveys his deep emotions and love through these timeless ballads. Besides the stories of love told in each song, his mellow tones, country feel, great timing, voice inflection and perfect pitch, convey an inspiring message with whatever he sings. There is a maturity to the tones, which leads the listener to believe that Jim has some real life experience behind the stories told in these songs. You can feel his love come pouring out. My other favorites included, “Come On And Get Higher,” which I could listen to over and over, “Make You Feel My Love,” “Wicked Game,” and “Solitary Man.” Showing his range, “All I Ask Of You,” from Phantom of the Opera, is well done and timeless, and “I don’t Want To Set The World On Fire” is throw back to a different era but helps to convey the consistent message of love told throughout the album. “This Love Of Mine” seems sad and personal and you can feel the love going on and on. Demonstrating further range is his, “Help The Poor,” which is performed live and makes you feel like hearing this in night club where is deserves to be played.
I totally enjoyed listening to the entire album and incorporated most of the songs into my list of listening “specials,” which I play over and over. I strongly recommend this album for your listening pleasure and can’t wait to see Jim Murray in concert. What he accomplished with this album is the culmination of a lifetime involvement with singing and music and I’m sure it will provide a “break through” to even further success.

Musical Dexterity at its best!

Jim Murray sings and offers his musical talents on this solo CD. Jim, who is widely known in the Chicago, IL area as a multi- genre drummer impresses with every track. Big Love, which is a personal favorite is a great way to start the journey, never overbearing and a smooth transition into the rest of the album. Come on Get Higher and Lyin' Eyes are a must do if listening with your significant other, and Make you Feel My Love is the icing on the cake! Enter Blue Moon, which is an endearing favorite. Wicked Game, on this one, Jim knocks Chris Issak out, and let's you know that he is singing! This of course is followed by " When We Dance, to soothe your soul. I could go on and on, this album is the culmination of hard work, extraordinary musicianship, and the determination to share his love of Music with the world. A+
