Halocene's Third Effort Hits All The Right Notes

“Make It Loud,” The Third Album by Phoenix area band Halocene, continues to show their growth as musicians. Singer/Songwriter Addie Nicole clearly put a lot of her personal feelings on display for the world to see, as evidenced from the first track through the last.

From the rocking title track anthem encouraging the listener to not let people get them down (Sample Lyric “I’ll just rise above and make it loud.”) to the seemingly autobiographical “Rock N Roll,” (Sample Lyric: “Sold my soul at five years old/Said ‘I wanna be a rock star.”) it’s clear that Ms. Nicole shared a lot of her personal story in this album and continues to grow as a song writer. She’s definitely a name to remember.

The third track, “Let It Rain” tells a story of walking away from the naysayers when you have too. A great message which gives the listener something to think about.

Also included are a pair of songs that take no prisoners – “Nightmares” and “Tell Me What.” On both of these, you can feel the heartbreak of a love lost, and another fighting to stay alive.

Concluding the album is a cover of the Katy Perry song, “Dark Horse.” Honestly, it’s hard to even tell this is a cover song. Ms. Nicole’s vocals add a power to the song that is almost overwhelming.

More than ably supporting the amazing vocal styling’s of Ms. Nicole, are the head splitting guitar sounds of Brad Amick and Cash Hart and the pounding bass of Austin Amick. Not to be overlooked is the amazingly rhythmic drumming of Joe (Justin) Polizzzi.

Halocene is a band on the rise and one people need to start paying close attention too as their star continues to ascend.
