7 Songs, 37 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

As soon as we hear the machine-gun beat of Ian Paice's drums on "Highway Star," it's all over. We have to listen to all of Machine Head from beginning to end—it's just that good. This landmark album is an exultant hard rock classic for a good reason: It’s packed with chugging heavy metal moments, from the psychedelic vocal echo on "Space Truckin'" to the mightiest of all guitar riffs on "Smoke on the Water."

Machine Head 1972

Machine Head, perhaps DP's most known album,is almost like a Greatest Hits colllection. All the songs are strong but honestly I don't want to hear Smoke On the Water ever again. 9.5/10

Deep Purple at their Best

Classic Purple ... this is the Rock'n Roll of the 70's I grew up on in High School. Never gets old. Buy it, its a standard among the classic rock.
