Editors’ Notes “Uphill battle against the patriarchy with a plastic knife/That’ll probably be the synopsis of my fucking life,” the Little Rock-born rapper breezily sing-songs on “Skit.” That’s a solid encapsulation of Faux’s wry charm; since her 2014 breakthrough, the MC-slash-singer has called herself the “rap game Daria” and won over heavy hitters like Donald Glover and Issa Rae. With bite-sized tracks no longer than three minutes, Lowkey Superstar keeps it quick and casual, but Faux’s bars are formidable as ever, aiming the chopper at haters, loser ex-boyfriends, and unpaid invoices alike.
