Love to Love You Donna (Deluxe Edition)

Love to Love You Donna (Deluxe Edition)

Donna Summer wasn't just a disco queen; she was an innovator in her field. For this collection of remixes by some of the biggest names in music engineering, her husband and longtime collaborator Bruce Sudano serves as executive producer. Hearing Summer’s voice hanging out there in the open breeze of Duke Dumont’s remix of “Dim All the Lights”—serving as a repetitive sample meant to brainwash—is an eerie reminder of her absence. Donna's no longer in the house, and it’s up to these producers to give her life and choose her directions. Here, house producers (Frankie Knuckles) and hip creative types (Hot Chip) take their shots with an understanding for her music, while others, like Afrojack, make their imprint heavily felt with harder attacks. Giorgio Moroder takes his rightful place, featured as he is on the one “new” track, “La Dolce Vita,” written by Summer, Moroder, and Nathan DiGesare. This isn't a greatest-hits collection, that’s for sure. The standard version of this album adds the Kristl Klear remix of “Our Love,” while the deluxe edition adds that, plus three more remixes.
