EDITORS’ NOTES

New Yorker Amber Mark calls her sound “R&B tribal”, a sonic melting pot that reflects her childhood spent traveling multiple continents. The gauzy hypnotics of alt-R&B fuse with ceremonial handclaps on “S P a C E,” while rainfall and a graceful sitar riff salve her grief on “Monsoon.” On songs that mourn her late, beloved mother, Mark’s gorgeous voice is full of searing pain, especially when woven around dancing piano on “Lose My Cool.” However, tribal house ballad “Way Back” and the assured Motown swing of “Can You Hear Me?” welcome in acceptance and optimism.

Sub genre heaven!!!!

This album is in a league all it’s own. A person can get a sense of almost a drug induced hallucination. Between the light dance beats and atmospheric sound effects this album is more of an out of body experience than a new kind of R&B. Highly recommended!!!!!!
