EDITORS’ NOTES

The David Crosby Box is an abridged version of 2006’s Voyage — tracks by the Byrds have been omitted due to label licensing issues (though most Crosby fans already have those recordings) — but the cult favorite “Triad” snuck in through a loophole. Recorded in 1967 for The Notorious Byrd Brothers, Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman vetoed the tune due to its lyrical content musing on a ménage à trois. Other gems include “Cowboy Movie” from Crosby’s 1971 solo debut If I Could Only Remember My Name where Neil Young’s recognizable guitar lead sounds like he’s playing with one finger on the fretboard. The previously unreleased “Samurai” is a true gift as Crosby croons a cappella gold with just a touch of reverb elongating his inflections. Penned for his son Django, a live version of “Dream for Him” perfectly bookends this outstanding collection.

David Crosby- Boxed....about time...a fine overview of his long career

Ok...there are no Byrds tracks....but then again, SONY finally got their act somewhat together and put out the Byrds box out again....a few weeks ago. But the folks at RHINO figured out the abundance of Crosby stuff is too numerous to ignore.
If you want to shell out the bucks, you get career defining moments all linked together from his solo works, his duo work with Graham Nash, but CSN and CSNY masterpieces. Check out the rarities like Deja Vu from Crosby and Nash , hard to find CPR tracks, Cowboy Movie from the live album, plus other great oddities from this clever mastermind of the 60's music era.

I saw David a bunch of times over the years, solo, duo, or with the CSN or CSNY folks. He is an American original, a true genius and a friend to us all. Start with Almost Cut My Hair, next Page 43....dig the grooves...

This is great, but it is a subset of something better

This is all great stuff. Thing is, you can get all of this AND a whole disc of previously unreleased stuff if you go for the David Crosby Voyage 3 disc set. Everything included here is in the 3-disc set. If you are a true Crosby fan, you want the Voyage set.

Everything is good here, especially the versions of Cowboy Movie, Page 43, The Lee Shore, and Homeward Through the Haze.

David Crosby Voyage

I love this CD, David a great song writer and singer. Awsome stuff here. I would recomend buying the cd not downloading it. He tells a story about every song. That;s good stuff.
