Live at The Ark in Ann Arbor, MI July 2, 2011

This live concert from the tour supporting Eleven Eleven is spot-on. Alvin's guitar work is excited and inspired, and his vocals are even better. His rapport with the audience explains many of the songs, and the blazing finish of "Fourth of July" is the catharsis that his songs often beg for. His work's meant to be played live, and these recordings prove that point. Note: There are three editions of Dave Alvin & The Guilty Ones' expanded edition of Eleven Eleven. This edition features just the nine live tracks from the band's performance in Ann Arbor, Mich. The other editions are Eleven Eleven Expanded, which features the original album (2011's Eleven Eleven), plus the nine tracks recorded live in Ann Arbor and three bonus cuts from the Eleven Eleven sessions, including "Beautiful City 'Cross the River," which was featured in the FX series Justified. Meanwhile, the edition called Bonus Tracks and Live at The Ark, as its title implies, features the live concert and the three bonus tracks without the original album.
