Performing as the opening act on the Who’s 1982 tour, and breaking up within the year, the Clash were in unfamiliar territory as they took the rainy stage at Shea Stadium, home of the New York Mets and 72,000 Who fans. But the band’s anthemic power which overwhelmed small clubs was perfectly effective in the arena environment. This is the complete set from their second and final night appearance. As an opening act, the band strategically loaded their set to include an immediate one-two knockout punch with “London Calling” and “Police on My Back” thrusting forth with their aggressive side. From there the group were quick to introduce their various musical influences with the staggered reggae beat of “The Guns Of Brixton,” the dance-funk of “Magnificent Seven” and the reggae jam of “Armagideon Time” before launching into their hits, “Rock The Casbah” and “Train In Vain”. Clash classics such as “Career Opportunities,” “Spanish Bombs” and “Clampdown” deliver without compromise and Strummer is completely fearless, even taunting the hostile crowd.

The last appearance

Great concert, delivered with such power and precision. It clearly shows the Clash were on top of their powers. The guitar duo is the best I've heard since Mick Jones and Strummer were never really that worried about it. the bass is muscular and clever and Terry, who is replacing Topper who had left the band at this point, may not be as talented as a drummer but delivers his part solidly and precisely laying the bed for a really consistent concert. In fact, as weird as it seems, probably the best all round concert I've heard from them with virtually the entire set sounding equally as good. Also, great vocals here. Probably the best singing captured on a Clash record. It was a shame they did not last longer but while they did, no one represented better Rock honesty than the Clash. At this stage, theywere clearly disintegrating as a band but their stage presence and their sound were to be remembered forever.

Who tour!

I saw them open for The Who on this tour in Los Angeles! I thought The Clash blew them off the stage! The Who were a shell of their former selves!

I you like The Clash its a must A full concert I have eternity but i like this one better!Because its not bit and pieces from shows its the whole show and though i never seen them or will i ever be able to see them this is the nearest it will ever be.
