INAIA has gone through several guises in her short career. The Ukrainian singer (born Katya Rogovaya) has worked under various pseudonyms—including Oya and KATYA—but it’s in her latest incarnation that she’s finally hit her stride. Produced here by dance pop guru Evgeny Filatov (The Maneken), her music takes minimalist beats and infuses them with warm electronic instrumentation for a breezy, chillwave-influenced sound. But it’s Rogovaya’s vocal that’s the key element—walking the line between power and fragility—and makes her debut LP feel like the introduction of a new icon in pop.
