Blur would become legends in England and a beloved cult band in the U.S. where Brit-pop never gained a serious foothold in the mainstream music world. However, there's always time to catch up, and in 2012, the band's entire catalog has been reissued with bonus material and improved sound. Leisure, their debut album, offers an early sketch of the band whose songwriting would evolve beyond anyone's wildest dreams. This collection is atmospheric, reflecting the Madchester scene prevalent in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Songs are often little more than key phrases repeated for maximum impact. "She's So High," "Sing" and "There's No Other Way" are the obvious highlights, with "Slow Down," "Fool" and "Bad Day" revealing their charms over the long haul.
